DWO have seen 6.11: The God Complex and have put our spoiler-free preview together: (spoiler due to size)
- Spoiler:
- The God Complex is one of the most grown-up Doctor Who stories to date, quite literally taking the word complex and running with it.
It forms an important part of a season that has forced the viewer to evolve with a new, more intelligent way of story-telling. A way that pays the loyal and casual viewer in dividends...as long as you stick with it, and pay attention.
The adventure kicks off with the TARDIS team arriving in an alien hotel, where everything is not as it seems, where nightmares come true, and where a mysterious creature hunts its prey in the maze-like corridors.
David Walliams guest stars, and although we're fans of his previous work, the best thing about his character in this story is the amazing prosthetics. Walliams turns in a Little Britain-esque performance here, complete with a voice that could be compared to many of his characters from that said show. There are a few nice little moments from his mole-like Gibbis, but on the whole, his portrayal feels somewhat misplaced.
Emotions run high at various points throughout this episode, and by the end you will feel quite drained (in a good way) - one particular scene springs to mind that's totally unexpected, totally genius, and utterly heart-breaking - made even more poignant thanks to a perfectly placed piece of scoring from Murray Gold.
Writer, Toby Whithouse, once again pulls out all the stops and raises the stakes on both his previous Doctor Who outings and the momentum of the series so far. His scripts are incredibly distinctive whilst having the ability to slot in seamlessly with Moffat's tone for the season.
There are some great moments too for Classic Series fans, as well as fans who have watched the New Series of Doctor Who from the beginning. Subtle and not-so-subtle nods to the past make the viewer feel like they are part of this ever-growing show that's constantly changing and evolving.
This is Doctor Who at its very best. Surely it can't get better than this...can it?

4) Nimon!
5) The Doctor finally gives Amy a key!

Leaving behind the series story arc for the time being, Night Terrors delivers a welcome change in style, pace and tone as Mark Gatiss offers up his third Doctor Who script, which is arguably one of his finest.
The story focuses on an 8-year old George, who is so terrified by the Monsters in his bedroom that he cannot sleep at night. His parents cannot help him, and so The Doctor comes to the rescue - making his first house call in a long time.
But there's more to George than meets the eye, as the mystery of what lurks in his wardrobe reaches a spine-tingling conclusion. Thus ensues a dark, creepy adventure that transports the TARDIS crew to a creaky old house with dolls that hunt you down and…well…that would be telling…
This could have quite easily been a companion-lite story like 2008's Midnight, but Gatiss puts both Amy and Rory to good use here, even allowing for a little character development along the way.
The star of the show, however, is young George, played by Jamie Oram. A terrific piece of casting that holds the whole story together due to conviction and belief.
Daniel Mays (Atonement; Ashes to Ashes) also sparkles, showing a more tender side to characters he has previously played on Film and TV.
There's something for both kids and adults in Night Terrors, with some particularly adult themes explored, including, for the first time in Doctor Who, IVF!
A few of the scenes in the flat share some similarities to 2010's The Lodger, owing to the almost surreal placement of The Doctor in a socially normal setting, but thankfully there's enough going on without it seeming too simulative or cliche.
There's also some great original scoring from Murray Gold, who portrays the seemingly mundane council setting with lazy clarinets and sweeping harps that give an almost Tim Burton-esque feel to the whole adventure.
Overall, Night Terrors is a very different story to anything in the Matt Smith era thus far. It isn't a 'classic' by any means, but thanks to a great plot and supporting cast, it will stand out as one of the more memorable episodes from an already strong season.
Five things to look out for...

2) Don't take the rubbish out alone!
3) "The Emperor Dalek's New Clothes", "Snow White and the Seven Keys to Doomsday".
4) A giant pair of scissors.
5) "Tick-Tock goes the clock, even for The Doctor".

coolio. good summation the blue book . The Tuxedo thing: maybe he goes to his future (from the wedding) and stops the Teselecta from hurting River. But how would he know about it? and the dead leg thing looked like an effect of the poison (although he was fine afterwards). Maybe the Doctor DID die from the poison and was replaced with a ganger... dunno. but all will be revealed.
The Silence are still pretty much a mystery...so many theories, so little time and space...

- Thankfully, unlike the re-opener, this week's Doctor Who can be safely and fully discussed without fear of inadvertently revealing a spoiler or twelve. 'Night Terrors', from the pen of Mark Gatiss, is less about surprises and revelations and questions and answers and spoilers and more surprises, and more concerned with plot and characters.
And it's just as funny as 'Let's Kill Hitler' too. In fact, this is one of the show's most gigglesome-filled stories ever with some hilarious performances from Matt Smith as everyone's favourite Gallifreyan, Arthur Darvill (everyone's favourite Doctor Who character called Rory) and Karen Gillan.
Gatiss, known for his comedic stylings from The League of Gentlemen, has packed numerous laughs into this episode, along with even more numerous references and mentions of Doctor Who lore (some of which will leave you positively hooting).
It's strange, indeed, that there should be so many gags as 'Night Terrors' appeared to be the 'scary' one as the trails since Christmas had featured those insanely creepy looking dolls. But, you'll be glad to hear, it is going to freak you out.
Director Richard Clark (who so beautifully helmed 'The Doctor's Wife' earlier this year) transforms the contemporary high-rise flats, where Team TARDIS find themselves after receiving a distress call of sorts, with his incredibly cinematic eye; rendering the everyday rather horrifying and making the banal fearful and unnerving.
Those old enough to remember the Ugly-Wuglies from the 1979 BBC children's series The Enchanted Castle will find similarities in the spine-shivering nature of the dollies and their motionless faces as they veer towards our heroes. They're a great, yet simple, invention, although you may have been hoping for more action from these gentle but deadly monsters.
Joining the Deadly Dollies (as no one is referring to them as) is Ashes To Ashes actor Daniel Mays, turning in the most sympathetic of performances as the father who has a problem that only The Doctor can assist with. It's wonderful to see Mays taking on a different kind of role from that we're used to of him. He and Matt Smith make for a most entertaining twosome, going through a number of tonally different scenes together.
Top marks and a gold star also go to newcomer Jamie Oram who plays the young boy of the story, George. Given that his role is large it's a credit to the youngster that he pulls it off so well and with such style. Though you will feel greatly for him, there's also something immensely unsettling about George; like he's an old man in a child's body.
'Night Terrors' marvels in its less than marvellous setting and will have you giggling knowingly (pointing out the references to your less geeky friends), LOLing and shrieking in equal measures. Gatiss has already proven the skills for laughs and scares but here he also demonstrates his heart with a wonderful relationship between father and son. The ending, we're sure, will have a number of you weeping.
Best of all, it's very much a stand-alone piece, so you can forget all about Melody Pond, The Silence, River Song, the Doctor's death-day. Tuck in and enjoy a classic forty-five minutes of Who action.

Although the messages in Part 1 of Series 6 ultimately turned out to be a bizarre marketing strategy, this seems much more cryptic—and relevant.
Could this be referring to "The Wedding of River Song"? Soldiers have been spotted on the set of Episode 13, including Roman centurions in Cardiff; and no doubt "when mothers wept" refers to Amy Pond. But what monsters is this message referring to? The Silence, or something more?

Do you think the BBC would really let that happen? With an average audience of 10 million? You're not going to reduce a show like this. The opposite is going to happen, in fact.
