Doctor Who Stuff Empty ASYLUM OF THE DALEKS AIR DATE

Post by Nameless Child Mon Aug 20, 2012 6:49 am

The BBC has confirmed the UK air date for the first episode of Series 7 will be 1 September, this will probably the same day in America. The next 4 episodes will follow weekly and the Sixth episode of the series, the christmas special, will air on CHristmas Day and feature new companion Clara.

Also, EPISODE 1 - 3 SYNOPSES BELOW.

7.01: Asylum of the Daleks
“Kidnapped by his oldest foe, the Doctor is forced on an impossible mission – to a place even the Daleks are too terrified to enter… the Asylum. A planetary prison confining the most terrifying and insane of their kind, the Doctor and the Ponds must find an escape route. But with Amy and Rory’s relationship in meltdown, and an army of mad Daleks closing in, it is up to the Doctor to save their lives, as well as the Ponds’ marriage.”

7.02: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
“An unmanned spaceship hurtles towards certain destruction – unless the Doctor can save it, and its impossible cargo… of dinosaurs! By his side a ragtag gang of adventurers; a big game hunter, an Egyptian Queen and a surprised member of the Pond family. But little does the Doctor know there is someone else onboard who will stop at nothing to keep hold of his precious, prehistoric cargo.”

7.03: A Town Called Mercy
"The Doctor gets a Stetson (and a gun!), and finds himself the reluctant Sheriff of a Western town under siege by a relentless cyborg, who goes by the name of the Gunslinger. But who is he and what does he want? The answer seems to lie with the mysterious, Kahler-Jex, an alien doctor (yes another one!) whose initial appearance is hiding a dark secret."

Doctor Who Stuff Empty BFI Screening. Don't worry, no spoilers.

Post by Nameless Child Wed Aug 15, 2012 7:59 am

The BFI screening of Asylum of the Daleks took place today, followed by a Q&A with the cast and creators.

Shortly after the screening, BlogtorWho tweeted "BREAKING: the Doctor Who title sequence will change each week!"

The Blogtor has been an unreliable spoiler source in the past, so I'd take it with a pinch of salt, but this is an interesting development.

Also, it has been confirmed that Doctor Who will return in early September, not August as previously thought. However, a specific date has not been released.

Series 7 of Doctor Who will most likely begin airing on either Saturday 25th August or Saturday 1st September.

Doctor Who Online wrote:The possible airdates come after the announcement that Episode One of Series 7 will be getting its premiere at the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International TV Festival in August.

The festival, which takes place between 23rd-25th August 2012, will be screening the new Dalek episode (rumoured to be titled 'Asylum of the Daleks'), as well as hosting a Sherlock Masterclass led by Showrunner, Steven Moffat, Co-creator, Mark Gatiss, and Producer / Wife of The Moff, Sue Vertue.

DWO have therefore deduced (see what we did there) that Series 7 will either get its BBC One premiere on Saturday 25th August, or Saturday 1st September.

Doctor Who Stuff Empty NEW COMPANION: THE PRESS RELEASE

Post by Nameless Child Thu Mar 22, 2012 3:28 am

Doctor Who Stuff DWJennaColeman

Jenna-Louise Coleman has beaten hundreds of hopefuls to become the new companion to Doctor Who, it was announced today by Steven Moffat.

Twenty-five year old Jenna from Blackpool, England will star alongside the 11th Time Lord, Matt Smith, to mark the biggest year in the show’s history.

Best known for her roles in Emmerdale (Jasmine Thomas) and Waterloo Road (Lindsay James), Jenna will replace Karen Gillan when she and Arthur Darvill bow out of the show in a heartbreaking departure after one final series of rollercoaster voyages later this year.

Jenna says: “I’m beyond excited, I can’t wait to get cracking; working alongside Matt I know is going to be enormous fun and a huge adventure.”

The Doctor will meet his new friend in a dramatic turn of events as the show builds towards its enormous, climactic 50th anniversary year — full of thrills, adventures and big surprises. Season seven is currently filming and comprises 14 big, blockbuster-movie episodes — each a brand new epic adventure featuring new monsters and some familiar foes as you’ve never seen them before.

Lead writer and executive producer, Steven Moffat, says: “It always seems impossible when you start casting these parts, but when we saw Matt and Jenna together we knew we had our girl. She’s funny and clever and exactly mad enough to step on board the TARDIS.

“It’s not often the Doctor meets someone who can talk even faster than he does, but it’s about to happen. Jenna is going to lead him his merriest dance yet. And that’s all you’re getting for now. Who she’s playing, how the Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by the Doctor’s standards, this isn’t your usual boy meets girl.”

Doctor Who Stuff Empty BIG NEWS: NEW COMPANION ANNOUNCED

Post by Nameless Child Thu Mar 22, 2012 3:13 am

The new Doctor Who companion was today announced as Jenna-Louise Coleman, who has starred in Emmerdale and Waterloo Road. Her first episode will be this year's Christmas Special after the departure of Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill.

I, for one, am hoping for a companion who isn't a present-day human.

Below is an interview by Lizo Mzimba of J-Lou C.

@bbcdoctorwho wrote:There will be 6 episodes this year, including the Xmas Special. Then 8 next year.

Spoiler:

So, what does everyone think of the new girl? Any hopes or expectations for the new series?

*EDIT*

from The Telegraph Website

Moffat remained tight-lipped about the new series. “Jenna is going to lead him his merriest dance yet, and that’s all you’re getting for now," he said.
"Who she’s playing, how the Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by the Doctor’s standards, this isn’t your usual boy meets girl.” He said there would be six episodes this year with eight more in 2013.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT SERIES 7 SO FAR:

Spoilers in 'spoiler' sections. So, that 'no Series 7 spoilers' rule I made for myself is already broken. Although, in my defence, they were not marked and most are only rumours.

PRODUCTION (Not spoilers, just facts)
Doctor Who will return Autumn 2012.
Title of the first s7 episode: ? of the ? .
The next series is going to span 13 episodes + a Christmas 2012 Special.
Filming will begin February 2012.
Moffat will write at least 5 episodes.
Mark Gatiss will write at least 1 episode.
John Fay will write at least 1 episode.
No episodes will be purposefully conceived as 2-parters.
The new companion has not been cast yet.

She told presenter Frank Skinner that she can't stand science-fiction because "it's not real and all these people who are fans think it's real and it's some sort of religion to them." ( I think Fern has misunderstood the term 'fiction' - it's not meant to be real, Fern.)
She also angered fans by saying that all Sci-Fi fans are men. I think I can safely say she is way off the mark with that.
Now, I won't go into the cultural significance of television, but I'd find it hard to call Doctor Who dreary if I presented 'The Fern Britton Show'.

Read a Sun article about it here

Room 101 is currently available on BBC iPlayer.

So....the Christmas special, hey, that was amazing/good/average/poor/terrible [delete as appropriate] wasn't it?

If you hadn't heard already, in series 7 news:
Spoiler:

Well, that broke my no spoilers for series 7 rule, didn't it. It was a bit hard to miss, though, when it was announced on the news.

The new Doctor Who MMORPG (called 'Worlds In Time) is up for a free preview release (I think this is basically open beta testing). Click the link to sign up.

I've been on it a little tonight and in my opinion it's a bit repetitive. It's not really like WoW or anything, just a puzzle game where you can team up to complete it (Puzzle Pirates-esque (?)). There are, though, forum and encyclopaedia sections (currently inactive) which could add to the MMORPG feel and the game could easily be developed further before it is fully released.

Twitter is going crazy at rumours that missing Classic Who episodes have been found. I'll update you after 5pm.

UPDATE: 2 Missing-Presumed-Lost episodes have been found: Galaxy Four Episode 3 and The Underwater Menace Episode 2. Also, @bbcdoctorwho will be making an announcement before 6pm, so there'll be another update soon. Smile

UPDATE: The BBC have confirmed that two Classic Who episodes have been recovered. A short clip from each of the episodes has be added to the official site as well as a gallery from the two episodes.

Doctor Who on Children in Need last night. A sketch and a Christmas trailer.

Just thought I'd update: current bid on Doctor's outfit in the CiN Auction is £22,100. Oh how I wish I won the lottery....

Anywho, we now know the Christmas Special title is The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe

---!NEWS!---

Dr Who is to be taken to the big screen by Harry Potter director David Yates.

Yates, who directed the last four Potter films, told Variety that he is about to start work on developing a Doctor Who film with the BBC.

"Russell T. Davies and then Steven Moffat have done their own transformations, which were fantastic, but we have to put that aside and start from scratch," he said.

"The project is unlikely to reach cinemas for several years and as yet there is no script, cast or production crew in place."
