I WIN!
My Grandfather died a few days ago, hence my weird moods and stuff. My family is fucked up as is, but it helped that he dies on my grandma's birthday. Mum's upset and not even sure we can go to his funeral. Yes siree... It's all jolly over here in AggieWorld!
More that anyone...
why didnt you tell us and not hide it in a post thats really sad and nobody noticed thats even more sad

Really sad news Aggie.

Re: Last Poster Wins!
Guys, don't worry about it. I meant to delete all my little annotations and got half way through it yesterday but my internet messed up.
And anyway, it's okay. I barely knew him. And we are going to the funeral.
anyway, I've got bigger fish to fry at the moment.
So yeah. I will accept my win and apologize for hiding that for you to find rather than telling you outright what has been up.
but don't expect me to change. I am quite a private person when it comes to family stuff, and even thugh i may elude to things being up, I doubt I will actually share.
So yeah... Win.

Sadly I am not familiar with this quote but something sounded familiar so I looked it up...
According to google it is 'This is not the Jedi you are looking for, move along'
Or is google wrong?

"These are not the droids you are looking for" i think. it was Obi Wan Kanobi. in one of the star wars films.
Re: Last Poster Wins!
It might be that too. I have absolutely no idea about it, or anything.Nameless Child wrote:"These are not the droids you are looking for" i think. it was Obi Wan Kanobi. in one of the star wars films.Agatha wrote:Sadly I am not familiar with this quote but something sounded familiar so I looked it up...bisted wrote:This is not the win you are looking for, move along.

The only this of which I am certain is, that I win.
Don't try and explain or dispute it, it just is.
Re: Last Poster Wins!
BcH was correct, and as such would be winning, if I wasn't.

Ash Meh Golding- Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all time thing. You don't win once in a while, you don't do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

Emma Van Der Aarde- The reason I ask is because in class I had today, my teacher said 'Winning is everything' and ridiculed those who held the opposite view. She then went on to say that the heads of Pixar and Microsoft and other such corporations were 'winners in life'.
I struggle with this idea. Surely other things must come before money on the 'winning at life' scale? What do you guys think?

Ash Meh Golding- To win materialistically means to gain nothing that cant be replaced.
To win emotionally means it will never need replacing.
Tell your teacher to open her mind to other ways to win, and to quote my favourite all time quote ' Your mind is like a parachute, it only operates when its open'

Emma Van Der Aarde- Oh, if only I were the type of person who could speak up. The problem I see is that everyone bar myself and another boy (the afore mentioned student who was ridiculed) Seem to have the same idea. What has happened to the world if Teachers are leading people to think that they will only be a success in life if they have the best car or best house. Shouldn't we strive for excellence in ourselves rather than try to be THE BEST in the world at something. After all, is it not impossible to be THE BEST at something? Surely there will always be someone somewhere who is better than you that has yet to be discovered?

Alternatively, you may wish to point out that no-one can truly win in life as we all die eventually.
In answer to your second question - I've just had a debate about the definition of and criteria for success with a professional philosopher at Durham University, and the verdict was pretty unanimous - one cannot define another's success, as it depends entirely on the individual's aims as well as others' perception.
Hope that helps.
